The history of leather cutting

These working expertise, which has been passed down through the family for generations, comes from the Venetian tradition started by Confraternita dei Calegheri, term for “cobblers”, which was situated since 1446 in Scoletta, Campo San Tomà. Actually it is the neighborhood’s library, as well as a meeting place; in the main hall, motifs and remnants of the 15th century frescoes are still visible.

During the centuries, such manufacturers continued to develop along Riviera del Brenta, generating a group of companies which are still operating internationally in the leather and footwear business.
